The 19th*

There’s an asterisk after The 19th* in its logo. The number refers to the amendment to the Constitution giving some women the right to vote, and the asterisk notes that Black women and millions of others were excluded.

The 19th* is a nonprofit news service, focusing on politics and policy through the eyes of women, offering evidence-based reporting on gender-based inequity and injustice, a place for civil conversations (!) and community building, creating opportunities for readers to have direct contact with elected officials. 

As founding funders, we’re especially glad that the newsroom reflects racial and socioeconomic inclusion, a process that’s been public and transparent.
