New York Women’s Foundation

In the decades since our founding, we’ve learned that it’s best to give money to people closest to the need we’re trying to meet or the problem we’re trying to solve. That’s also the idea of the New York Women’s Foundation’s NYC Fund for Girls and Young Women of Color. The Fund gives grants to organizations led by women of color who are working directly with girls and young women of color. (Some of our own grantees have been on that list, including the Arab American Family Support Center, Casita Maria Center for Arts & Education, and South Asian Youth Action.)

We give money to the Fund, the Fund gives money to other organizations doing the actual work of serving the target population. This offers funders like us an opportunity to invest in programs we might not have known about otherwise.
