Meet our Grantees
You Have The Power... know how to use it!
Here’s a story we love (we still hope they’ll make it into a major motion picture one day). Andrea Conte, as of this writing in October 2008 the First Lady of the State of Tennessee, is lucky to be alive.
Back in 1988, she ran a retail business. She was kidnapped. She used her brains, her strength, her spirit, and her courage to escape.
In 1993, she was one of a grassroots group of crime survivors, representatives of the office of the District Attorney, law enforcement, community agencies, and concerned citizens who founded this nonprofit.
Their mission is to reduce and prevent violent crime through education, collaboration, and community involvement. They also help people who might be called “victims” to learn to redefine themselves through knowledge, skills, and tools for empowerment.
