Tennessee Performing Arts Center
Here at The HF, team members have a variety of experiences in the arts. Two have earned their living primarily as instrumental performers, another is married to a former professional opera singer, another was married to a professional singer-instrumentalist. One taught dance. We know what the arts mean to a society, to a community, to a talented individual, to one who needs inspiration. There's at least one Harnisch Foundation team member who might never have heard a symphony or seen the inside of a fine arts museum as a child without the benefit of grammar school field trips.
That's one reason The HF occasionally supports something like this program, which was designed to make the most of school field trips for today's students. ArtSmart pairs teachers and artists and helps students see how the performances they experience on those field trips might have some meaning that applies to their lives.
