Meet our Grantees
Peconic Community Council
The Harnisch Family has been contributing to this social action organization since its inception in 1976. The PCC convenes nonprofits, government agencies, religious institutions, and other social service providers to explore the needs of the East End of Long Island, NY.
The HF provided key funding to establish the Peconic Housing Initiative and Maureen’s Haven, providing food, shelter, and services for homeless individuals and families. This program was inspired by another HF grantee, Nashville’s Room In The Inn, through personal connections: PCC’s founding Executive Director was Louise Stalzer, sister-in-law of The HF’s founder, Ruth Ann Harnisch. Ruth Ann introduced Louise to Room In The Inn founder Charles Strobel.
