Modest Needs
Modest Needs makes it possible for anyone to become a philanthropist.
Ordinary working people who have an unexpected financial need are often one very small step away from falling into a life of poverty, government assistance, and a cycle of dependence that's hard to break. All it would take is a very modest amount of money to keep them from losing the job, the house, the car, the electricity. Modest Needs tell the stories of the people whose kid needs glasses or whose car needs a tire, a one-time expense - and people chip in to help out.
On the most basic level, the bill gets paid, the power doesn't get cut off. The doctor-prescribed appliance is purchased so the condition doesn't worsen and the medical bills don't continue to mount. The kid gets the glasses and therefore can see to go to school and maybe not fall behind. And so on.
