The two billion dollar a year professional coaching industry rests on a limited research and evidence base. Although rigorous and pioneering studies have been published to date, there is still a pressing need for a body of research to demonstrate and validate coaching effectiveness.
Anecdotal evidence shows coaching works. But research is needed to prove how it works. Research will explore what generates the best outcomes.
As founding funder of the Institute of Coaching at McLean Hospital, a Harvard Medical School Affiliate, we offer the opportunity for researchers, graduate students, and coaching practitioners to conduct this critical coaching research.
The Institute of Coaching Professional Association is building a coaching community dedicated to learning about and supporting best practices in coaching. The mission of the ICPA is to raise the bar of coaching practice through sound theory and good science.
