Buffalo Broadcasters Association/Archive Project/Oprah's Set Chairs
Let’s face it: sometimes a grant has personal connections. Ruth Ann Harnisch started her media career in Buffalo, NY, and although she hasn’t been active in Buffalo media for four decades, she is still a member of the Buffalo Broadcasters Association.
Because journalism is the first draft of history, preserving media archives is important.
The BBA’s Archiving Project is devoted to saving (and creating a searchable digital archive) old newsfilm that went into the preparation of newscasts in Western New York. The HF also donated to BBA the Oprah set chairs (purchased through a charity auction) based on their commitment to preserving broadcast history through recordings and artifacts.
