Book 'em
Founded in 1989 by a small group of volunteers including Ruth Ann Harnisch, who provided initial funding, Book’em is a nonprofit children's literacy organization in Nashville, Tennessee. For the past 19 years, Ruth Ann and The Harnisch Foundation have helped Book ‘em provide volunteer readers to local preschools, Head Start centers, and elementary schools, and to collect and distribute hundreds of thousands of new books to children in lower-income families who might not otherwise have books of their own. After providing major funding for many years, The HF is pleased that support for Book ‘em now comes from the biggest businesses and nonprofits in the area.
